An evolution of the RME ADI-2/4 Pro SE
The RME ADI-2/4 Pro EX retains the compact half-rack format of its predecessor while upgrading its essential components. The ESS ES9823Pro and ES9039Q2M converters improve the signal-to-noise ratio and conversion accuracy. The locking USB-C connection, enhanced protection circuitry and factory-calibrated SteadyClock EX complete this new generation.
The inputs are also more versatile, with sensitivity extending down to -35 dBu, switchable impedance and RIAA correction available in line mode. A dedicated ground terminal simplifies the integration of a turntable, while direct selection of ADAT 3/4 channels as a headphone source enhances monitoring.
A conversion hub for studio, mastering and critical listening
This AD/DA converter is designed for sound engineers, mastering studios and users seeking precise headphone monitoring. Its independent outputs allow you to keep a signal playing through the speakers while listening to another source through the headphones. The rear jack outputs can follow the Line 1/2 or Phones 3/4 signal path, making it possible to integrate external effects into the mastering chain.
It is also suitable for DSD playback and recording, vinyl digitisation and measurement systems up to 768 kHz. Via USB, it operates as a stereo or multichannel interface, with Class Compliant compatibility for computers, iPads and iPhones. Battery-powered operation is possible for mobile setups or configurations requiring galvanic isolation.
Precise monitoring without relying on software
DSP processing and IPS display
The 5-band parametric equaliser, quick Bass/Treble controls, Crossfeed and Loudness allow you to tailor your listening experience. The high-resolution IPS display shows peak levels, the 30-band spectral analyser using DIGICheck biquad filter technology, and a summary of the SPDIF, AES, USB and clock statuses.
Refined headphone amplification and synchronisation
True Balanced mode reserves conversion channels 3/4 for the headphones without muting rear outputs 1/2. IEM, Low Power and High Power modes adapt the available level. ELAR technology optimises the linearity of the analogue signal path, while SteadyClock EX enables fine adjustment of the internal frequency for "Sync without Sync" synchronisation, without a dedicated word clock connection.
