At the Intersection of Dante and the MADIface Line
Designed to support the rise of audio over IP, the Digiface Dante brings RME's MADI/USB expertise into the Dante realm. More compact and flexible than PCIe solutions, it combines proprietary drivers inherited from MADIface interfaces and cutting-edge network connectivity, while remaining bus-powered to maximize mobility.
Who Is It For and What Are Its Uses?
Ideal for live sound, broadcast, fixed installations, and mobile studios, the Digiface Dante is aimed at sound engineers and integrators who need to route numerous channels with low latency and exemplary reliability. It serves as a gateway between Dante infrastructures and MADI equipment, or as a Dante USB node for multitrack recording and monitoring.
Key Features for a Seamless Network Workflow
Redundant Dante Network and Integrated Switch
Two dual network ports ensure flexible topologies: inputs/outputs, aggregation as a switch, or primary/secondary redundancy for service continuity. Control is done via Dante Controller software for immediate patching on the network.
MADI over USB 3.0 and Switchable Word Clock
The BNC connectors dedicated to Word Clock switch to MADI I/O, allowing transport of 64 MADI channels in addition to 64 Dante channels over a single USB 3.0 connection, with stable timing and a professional workflow.
TotalMix FX and Remote Control
The TotalMix FX DSP mixer offers independent submixes for each output and precise monitoring via the headphone output. With TotalMix Remote, you can control the interface remotely from iOS, PC, or Mac-perfect for remote control rooms or on stage.
Standalone Converter Mode
Without USB, the Digiface Dante operates as a 64-channel Dante/MADI converter, convenient for quickly linking two audio worlds without a computer.

It's a real treat to have a Totalmix FX inside the Dante network! This is really the decisive point, there is no other alternative (for the moment) to manage direct monitoring so effectively. So, in addition to having a Dante interface for your DAW, simple and portable via USB 3, we have a virtual console with hyper-flexible routing/monitoring. In addition, another software accompanies the Totalmix FX, which is âTotalmix Remoteâ. It allows remote control with an iPad, Surface, or any other machine connected to the network. The musicians will be happy with the comfort of carrying out their scales!
Another point: the quality of the âphoneâ output is really excellent and can also be used as a âlineâ output without worries.
Practical tip: in addition to the 4 RJ45 ports, which work exactly like a switch (I âpluggedâ my AM2 into it), there is a 5th internal port that is presented in the computer as an Ethernet port specific to the PC. So we have access to the Dante Controller without the addition of another cable, unlike a Rednet PCIe card.
Special note: under Cubase, the VST link works very well with other âDanteâ PCs, which shows that the Totalmix FX is perfectly transparent in the flow.
And finally, let's not forget the advantage of having 64 in/out Dante but also 64 in/out MADI!
The RME drivers are very strong, that's for sure! In short, Dante/RME: the best of both worlds!Automatically translated
