The DeadCat VMP+ was developed as an accessory perfectly suited to the RODE VideoMic Pro+, with a design intended to fit its shape and acoustic behavior. This "custom-made" approach provides more consistent wind protection than a universal solution, while maintaining easy access and a stable hold on the microphone. For other VideoMic Pro variants, dedicated models exist (DeadCat VMP and DeadCat VMPR) to preserve the same level of fit and effectiveness.

Internal Foam + Synthetic Fur: A Progressive Barrier

The DeadCat VMP+ combines an open-cell foam cover with an outer layer of acoustically transparent synthetic fur. This duo works as a two-stage protection: the fur breaks the energy of the airflow, then the foam cushions the residual turbulence before it reaches the capsule. The result: better control of wind noise while preserving a natural sound, useful for dialogue, ambience, and action sounds.

Rubber Base: Sealing and Secure Fit on the VideoMic Pro+

The rubber base, designed to fit precisely on the VideoMic Pro+, plays a key role: it limits wind entry from the rear of the microphone's capture area and ensures a stable attachment. This reliable hold is essential when moving (shoulder-mounted camera, tracking shots, vlogging) or when weather conditions become unpredictable.

Finally, its protection capacity is rated up to a wind force 5, a valuable asset for shoots by the sea, at height, or in exposed urban environments.
