A microphone designed for the demands of reporting and speaking engagements

The Reporter belongs to the line of dynamic handheld microphones designed for broadcasting and interviews, where the priority is not a "studio color" but the immediate understanding of the voice. Its approach favors capture stability, durability under intensive use, and ease of use: plug it in, hold it properly, and get a clean sound in a wide variety of situations. In a field-oriented range, it positions itself as a reliable tool for shoots, studios, conferences, and events, with construction and technical choices adapted to mobility constraints.

Who is the Reporter for, and in which uses does it make a difference?

The Reporter is aimed at journalists, mobile podcasters, videographers, event technicians, schools, communities, and anyone needing a simple and effective interview microphone. Thanks to its omnidirectional directivity, it is particularly relevant when the microphone quickly passes from one speaker to another, when the speaker moves, or when a perfect axis cannot be guaranteed. Compared to a more directional cardioid handheld microphone, the omnidirectional pattern is more forgiving of placement variations, which secures the capture in "live" conditions.
In event environments (trade shows, conferences, queues, street interviews), the elongated handle facilitates a consistent distance between the capsule and the mouth, without disturbing the frame or encroaching on the speaker's space. In video studios or streaming, it becomes a pragmatic choice when a clear voice is desired without complex setup, while maintaining the robustness and tolerance of a dynamic microphone.

Key features: intelligibility, comfort, and reliability

A voice-oriented signature for a clear sound

With a frequency response of 70 Hz to 16 kHz, the Reporter focuses on the essentials: the speech-relevant band. The goal is to retain body without excessive bass, while maintaining presence so consonants remain clear. This optimization is especially useful when recording in imperfect locations (reverberant rooms, sheltered outdoors, backstage), where a too wide response can make the result harder to control during mixing.

Omnidirectional directivity: more freedom, fewer errors

The omnidirectional directivity captures sound from 360 degrees, providing appreciable uniformity when the speaker talks sideways, when the microphone is not strictly "facing the mouth," or when speakers alternate quickly. This is a real advantage in spontaneous interviews: fewer wasted takes, less timbre variation related to angle, and a more natural setup.

Construction and wind protection for real-world conditions

The metal housing and die-cast ergonomic body are designed to withstand repeated handling. The multilayer mesh grille serves a dual purpose: it protects the capsule and improves resistance to air noise, especially when moving or in spaces with frequent air flows. For video interviews, this design also helps maintain a cleaner sound on word attacks (plosives), while remaining discreet on camera.

XLR connectivity: easy integration into a professional chain

Thanks to its XLR output, the Reporter naturally integrates with an audio interface, portable recorder, mixing console, or sound system. Its output impedance of 150 Ohms and sensitivity of -56 dB correspond to typical behavior of a dynamic microphone oriented toward broadcasting: plan for a clean preamp with enough gain to achieve a good level, especially if you record a soft voice or keep a greater distance for on-camera comfort.
