Historical Context and Positioning in the Range

The caxixi is an Afro-Brazilian idiophone, widely used in capoeira to enrich rhythmic attack and enhance the groove. This Roots Percussions model reflects an approach focused on artisanal craftsmanship and the quality of world instruments.

Who This Drum/Instrument Is For

This caxixi is suitable for both beginners and advanced capoeira practitioners, as well as percussionists seeking an expressive shaker. It adapts well to acoustic settings, rodas, and world music requiring precise pulse.

Features and Innovations

Its wicker weaving ensures a good grip, while the calabash bottom promotes a crisp response. The seed filling provides a consistent grain, useful for working on gesture consistency and dynamics.

The Sound

The wicker + calabash combination produces a medium timbre, both defined and warm. The seeds generate a clear attack with a homogeneous noise, useful for articulating fast patterns without excessive harshness.
