An Anniversary Series Made at JodyJazz
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Rousseau lineage, Jody Jazz launches the ER50 series, one of the first new generations of models introduced in nearly a decade. The ER50 Classic continues the tradition of great "French-style" Rousseau-inspired mouthpieces, with manufacturing carried out entirely at the JodyJazz factory in Savannah, Georgia, and hand finishing for consistent playability and sound.
Who Is This Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece For?
The ER50 Classic targets intermediate to advanced saxophonists seeking smooth sound production and stable control while maintaining a singing character. It is particularly suited for classical music, ensembles (small or large groups), and soloist performance on stage, thanks to its projection and ability to nuance without hardening the timbre.
Sound and Design
Made of ebonite (hard rubber), this mouthpiece emphasizes a round and warm sound with clear articulation. Its tip opening (the gap between the tip of the mouthpiece and the reed) set at 1.63 mm offers a good compromise between breath freedom and precision. The gold-plated brass conical ring on the shank enhances the sensation of warmth and tonal finesse, while the design aims for better presence in the low register and overall homogeneity.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
The mouthpiece is delivered without ligature or mouthpiece cap : plan to get a ligature and a mouthpiece cap suitable for alto saxophone mouthpieces, as well as alto sax reeds (strength to be chosen according to your embouchure and style).
