A Classic Brass Section Staple, Designed for Versatility

A central instrument in concert bands, brass bands, and fanfare ensembles, the euphonium is known for its ability to "sing" as a melodic instrument while supporting the harmonic foundation. This 4-valve (3+1) configuration offers a modern playing approach, widely favored by musicians seeking an expressive instrument comfortable in melody, counter-melody, and bass reinforcement. The choice of a lacquered brass finish emphasizes a traditional aesthetic and provides suitable protection for regular use.

For Whom and in Which Styles?

This model is particularly suited for intermediate to advanced players who want a responsive euphonium capable of holding a part with strong presence without requiring the more specialized approach of compensated systems. It is well suited for fanfare, concert band, brass band repertoires, as well as variety and stage music where a round timbre, good projection, and stable sound production are desired. The presence of a 4th valve expands fingering possibilities and facilitates certain low-register positions, which is valuable in ensemble contexts.

Sound and Design

The combination of a brass body and a rose brass leadpipe promotes a full and warm sound, with a less "harsh" attack and a softer midrange response. The 12.8 to 13.5 mm bore offers a good balance between ease of blowing and power reserve: the instrument remains flexible at low volume while allowing dynamic increases without closing off. The 21 cm bell contributes to balanced projection, useful for both indoor and outdoor performance. In terms of design, the nickel silver external slides enhance wear resistance in handling areas, while the water key on the 3rd slide improves daily comfort by facilitating condensation drainage.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To maintain smoothness and longevity of the mechanics, the use of valve oil (specific for pistons) and slide grease is highly recommended. A cleaning swab suitable for brass instruments and a microfiber cloth will help preserve the lacquer finish and keep the instrument clean, stable, and pleasant to play.
