The Sadowsky Spirit: A Modern Bass Inspired by Classic Designs
Renowned for its boutique-character instruments and professional reliability, Sadowsky offers here an electric bass designed to capture the blend of precision, punch, and modern comfort. Made in Asia, it aims for an excellent balance between luthiery standards, hardware reliability, and the distinctive P/J tonal identity, ideal for covering a wide repertoire.
Who Is It For, and What Styles?
This 4-string bass is suited both for the intermediate player seeking a stable and versatile instrument and the advanced bassist looking for an efficient workhorse. Thanks to the P/J configuration and bass/treble adjustments, it naturally adapts to rock, pop, funk, reggae, variety, gospel, R&B, and studio or stage situations where you need to switch quickly from a warm to a more cutting sound.
Tone
The okoumé body contributes to a balanced response, with present low mids and a good sense of lightness. The bolt-on maple neck provides responsiveness and a clear attack, while the fingerboard (maple or rosewood depending on the version) influences the tone: brighter and more immediate with maple, softer and slightly more mellow with rosewood. On the electronics side, the combination of Sadowsky P-Style (neck) and J-Style (bridge) pickups delivers solid, full lows in neck position, or more bite and definition when adding the bridge pickup. The Treble and Bass controls make it easy to adjust brightness and foundation to suit the amp, mix, and playing style, whether fingerstyle or pick.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To stay as close as possible to the original setup, opt for a 4-string long scale 34" / 864 mm bass string set in stainless steel gauge 045-105.
