The MetroExpress series carries the signature Sadowsky traits: efficient luthiery, proprietary electronics, and immediate ergonomics. This Vintage M/J 21-fret model retains the elegant "J-Style" look while adding very current features (switchable humbucker, 2-band preamp, bypass) to achieve a defined, musical sound that sits easily in a mix, without harshness.

This 4-string bass is aimed at intermediate to advanced bassists seeking a responsive, precise, and versatile instrument, as well as demanding beginners wanting a reliable and durable bass. Thanks to the palette offered by the M/J configuration and active EQ, it naturally covers pop, rock, funk, soul, jazz, and gospel, with a clear attack and always clean lows.

The Sound

The heart of this MetroExpress is the M/J pickup combination: at the neck, the passive hum-canceling J-style pickup provides a round and articulate foundation, rich in low-mids, ideal for fingerstyle playing and dynamic nuances. At the bridge, the Quad Coil Alnico V humbucker enhances definition, projection, and sustain, perfect for lines that "speak" in the mix. Its 3-position selector transforms the instrument: series for a dense and powerful sound, parallel for more openness and clarity, single coil for a sharper attack. The Sadowsky active 2-band preamp (boost) is highly effective: firm and controlled lows, airy and silky highs, without harshness. And with the push/pull on the bass control, you switch to bypass for a more direct and organic character.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To maintain the original feel and balance, prefer 4-string long scale 34" / 864 mm strings, such as the supplied gauge 045 - 105 (Sadowsky Silver Label stainless steel). For stage and rehearsal, a good quality standard instrument jack cable is perfectly suitable.
