A John Browne Signature Designed for Precision and Endurance
As John Browne's (Monuments) signature model, the Tao follows the lineage of 7-string performance-oriented guitars: modern ergonomics, easy access to high frets, and ultra-consistent response across the entire range. Its ash body with flamed maple veneer and "Ozone Burst" finish combines a bold look with a sharp attack, while the bolt-on construction and "Ultra Access" heel facilitate extreme positions without constraint.
Who Is It For, and Which Styles?
This 7-string electric guitar is clearly aimed at intermediate to expert guitarists seeking a reliable instrument for modern metal, djent, and prog. The fast neck, Luminlay markers, and humbucker configuration with coil-split also make it an excellent base for alternating percussive riffs, incisive leads, and more airy clean passages, without losing the essential precision in low tunings.
Sound
The ash provides a snappy attack and tight lows, while the ebony fingerboard enhances articulation and definition, especially useful on the 7th string. The 27.0" / 686 mm scale improves tuning stability in low tunings and helps maintain clear lows in palm-muting. On the electronics side, the Schecter USA humbuckers (Colossus 7 and Chaosbreaker 7) deliver a dense output, present mids, and a controlled high end for modern saturations. The push-pull (coil-split) expands the palette to clearer, sharper tones, and the 3-way selector allows instant switching from massive rhythm to more focused lead sounds.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To stay as close as possible to the original gauge, the Ernie Ball Regular Slinky 7 2621 (.010-.056) strings are recommended. For transport, a SGR-1C gig bag or case is offered as an option (sold separately) by the manufacturer.
