A Signature Designed for Zakk Wylde's Playing Style
A key figure in heavy metal with Black Label Society, Zakk Wylde stands out as much for his highly expressive touch as for guitars with an immediately recognizable design. With Wylde Audio (in collaboration with Schecter's expertise), this series focuses on performance-oriented luthiery: deep set glued neck, resonant woods, and electronics tailored for heavy distortion.
Who Is It For, and What Styles?
This electric guitar is aimed at intermediate to expert guitarists seeking a stable, responsive instrument built to handle high gain. It excels in heavy metal, hard rock, sludge, stoner, and any situation where firm palm-mutes, easy harmonics, and solos that remain clear in a dense mix are desired.
The Sound
The mahogany (body) and flamed maple (top) duo offers an ideal balance between full lows, present mids, and a snappier attack, with generous sustain enhanced by the glued-in neck and its "Deep Insert" joint. The ebony fingerboard provides precision and quick response, perfect for alternate picking, clean bends, and fast runs. On the electronics side, the EMG 81 at the bridge delivers tight, aggressive, and very defined distortion, while the EMG 85 at the neck adds warmth for leads and thick rhythms. The 3-position selector and separate controls (2 volumes + 1 tone) allow fine adjustment of the neck/bridge balance.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To maintain the original feel and tension, choose a set of Ernie Ball Regular Slinky 2221 strings in .010-.046. For transport, this guitar is designed for a 4490 case (sold separately).
