Summary of This Method

Fit in 15 Minutes is a method of warm-ups and exercises designed to develop piano playing oriented towards sound. Professor Ilja Scheps demonstrates how to transform a short practice session into a truly musical moment, where technique directly serves creativity, communication, and the emotional power of interpretation.

The first part, "Waking up the fingers - waking up the ears," establishes the essential fundamentals for a healthy and effective practice: small exercises for the body and hands, sitting position at the piano, rotational movements to free the wrists, followed by five-finger patterns for both hands. The goal is to build flexible dexterity, without hardness, while awakening listening. The pianist's essentials naturally find their place here: scales and arpeggios, a Hanon-type exercise, as well as studies in the spirit of Czerny, to consolidate regularity and independence.

The second part offers warm-ups based on excerpts from the piano repertoire. You work on velocity and relaxation, scales and arpeggios in a musical context, as well as octave and chord playing with alternating hands. Special attention is given to "warming up the ears": the method encourages refined sound articulation and a lively sound culture, constantly renewed, so that tone quality and listening precision become reflexes from the very first notes.
