Summary of This Method
"The Young Virtuoso Pianist in 40 Exercises by C.L. Hannon; revised and adapted by Armand Ferté for commercial use" offers a short but very effective technical path, in the spirit of classic school exercises. The goal is clear: to strengthen finger mechanics and develop a hand that is more confident, consistent, and enduring. Each exercise targets finger equalization, precision of playing, and coordination of both hands to achieve cleaner execution and rhythmic stability. When practiced attentively, these sequences help improve both legato and staccato, while promoting a more even touch across the entire keyboard.
Armand Ferté's adaptation emphasizes readability and progression, making it an easy method to integrate into a piano curriculum. By varying tempi, dynamics, and articulations, the student can transform these exercises into a true technical laboratory, serving control and expression. Used as a warm-up ritual before repertoire or as a regular practice foundation, this method suits both young pianists in training and adults wishing to resume piano with an effective routine. A reliable resource to develop dexterity, endurance, and consistency, and to approach études and pieces with greater confidence.
