Historical Context and Positioning Within the Range

The Crystal Singing Bowl Chakra represents a modern interpretation of singing bowls inspired by Tibetan tradition. While classic models made of metal alloys (bronze or brass) emphasize a warm harmonic complexity, this quartz crystal version focuses on timbre purity, a clear projection, and a very prolonged sustain. In the "Chakra" range, each model combines a color and pitch with one of the seven energy centers, intended for meditation, relaxation, and sound therapy practices.

Who Is This {Instrument} For?

This crystal singing bowl is suitable both for beginners (immediate handling, intuitive play with the mallet) and for advanced practitioners in meditation, yoga, sound baths, or sound massage seeking a stable note and long resonance. It is particularly suited for contexts where one wants to establish a broad drone, singing harmonics, and a sense of sound space, whether in individual sessions, private practice, studios, or relaxation circles.

Important note: the tuning at 432 Hz is not aligned with the most common Western standard (440 Hz). For musical coherence, it is preferable to use it alone or with other instruments tuned to 432 Hz, rather than with traditionally tuned instruments.

Features and Innovations

Made from quartz crystal, this model benefits from a manufacturing process where the glass is melted and then shaped by centrifugation, promoting a homogeneous structure and effective vibrational properties. The sound output is characterized by a powerful fundamental and clearly audible harmonics, often perceived as more "crystalline" and longer-lasting than those of a metal bowl.

The playing style is intentionally versatile: the rubber head of the mallet allows for gentle striking to trigger a full note, or rubbing the rim to gradually increase intensity and bring out layers of harmonics. The silicone ring improves stability and helps the bowl maintain a consistent vibrational behavior, limiting energy loss caused by contact with a too-hard surface.

Sound Characteristics

Unlike alloy bowls (often more "granular" and complex), quartz crystal tends to produce a clearer sound, with a precise attack and a very long decay. The fundamental (here the note B ) remains well centered, while the "singing" harmonics unfold progressively, creating an enveloping sensation ideal for breathing, deep relaxation, and mindfulness practices.

The frosted glass finish and slightly rough surface also promote good grip during rubbing, facilitating the emergence of continuous sound. By modulating the pressure, speed, and angle of the mallet, one can achieve nuances ranging from a soft whisper to a broad resonance, with a harmonic spectrum that brightens as the vibration intensifies.
