Signature: SELMER's Heritage Between Tradition and Modernity

Manufactured in France, at the Henri SELMER Paris workshops in Mantes-la-Ville, the brand's saxophones carry over a century of artisanal and musical excellence. The Signature was designed as a natural link within the range: it fits between the Axos family (professional entry-level) and the Supreme (high-end), offering an approach that is both accessible and decidedly ambitious.

The Signature tenor continues the legacy of an iconic model: it reinvents the spirit of the Série III, launched in 1995 and appreciated for its acoustic qualities and comfort. With a neck socket of larger diameter and optimized manufacturing control (calibration and 3D inspection), SELMER aims for remarkable sound homogeneity while preserving what makes an instrument alive: its personality.

For Which Saxophonists and Styles?

Thanks to its versatility and ergonomics inspired by the Série III, the Signature targets a wide range of musicians: from the intermediate saxophonist looking to advance, to the professional seeking a responsive, stable tenor capable of adapting to various aesthetics. It excels in jazz (from velvety subtone to timbred sound), pop, contemporary music, brass band, and remains perfectly comfortable in more classical contexts thanks to its intonation and balance.

Sound and Design

The Signature tenor saxophone stands out for its great playing flexibility : the response remains fluid across all registers, with an easy transition between a smooth subtone and a denser, more projected sound. The enlarged neck socket contributes to generous projection and a controlled power sensation, while enhancing precision.

In terms of comfort, the instrument features mechanics designed for consistency and longevity: Teflon bearings on the octave key (lighter action, reduced play and noise), leather pads with riveted metal resonators for a clear response, and natural mother-of-pearl keys traditionally set. The adjustable tightening ring in maillechort (nickel silver), separate from the socket, reinforces a key area and allows fine adjustment.

Finally, the aesthetics assert the model's identity: an exclusive engraving in Art Deco style, paying tribute to the SELMER Manufacture established in Mantes-la-Ville since 1919, and a Dark Signature lacquer that highlights the tenor's silhouette. The thumb rests, made of metal plated with fine gold, add a premium touch while contributing to playing comfort.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To get the most out of your tenor, you can complement your setup with tenor saxophone reeds (strength adapted to your embouchure and style) and a tenor saxophone stand for safe storage at home or in the studio.
