EW-DX: The "Evolution Wireless" Spirit Serving Connected Productions

With EW-DX (Evolution Wireless Digital), Sennheiser transfers its historic expertise in wireless microphones to a decidedly modern approach: digital UHF, network control, and simple integration into multi-channel setups. The EW-DX EM 2 DANTE follows this evolution logic: a compact, robust receiver ready for current workflows, capable of integrating into a control room, touring rack, or fixed installation where RF performance, audio transparency, and centralized management are all expected.

Who Is the EW-DX EM 2 DANTE For and What Are Its Applications?

This receiver is designed for sound engineers, contractors, theaters, concert halls, corporate stages, places of worship, studios, and audiovisual installations that want to deploy a scalable wireless system without multiplying conversion boxes. Thanks to Dante, it naturally integrates into an existing audio network (console, stagebox, matrix), while maintaining field ergonomics: front headphone output, readable OLED interface, and analysis tools to secure links in RF-heavy environments.

Network, RF, and Audio: A Receiver Designed for Field Constraints

Dante and Network Modes: Clean Integration from Small Racks to Full Control Rooms

The EW-DX EM 2 DANTE offers a flexible approach to network connectivity: single cable mode (control, Dante, PoE), split mode (control + PoE and Dante daisy-chained), or redundancy mode (control + PoE, Dante Primary, Dante Secondary). This flexibility allows adapting cabling to the realities of the stage while preparing more secure architectures for events and broadcast.

Frequency Management: AutoScan and Channel Density Made Easy

The AutoScan function quickly analyzes the environment and facilitates frequency deployment, even when time is limited or the RF space is complex. Equidistant channel spacing allows allocating channels without intermodulation: in standard mode (600 kHz) or Link Density mode (300 kHz) to increase channel density. The LQI indicator helps clearly distinguish link quality from RF levels, useful for diagnosing situations in real conditions.

Sennheiser Digital Audio: Transparency, Dynamics, and Low Latency

For stage and recording, the audio chain benefits from the Sennheiser Performance Audio Codec (SePAC) and a system latency of 1.9 ms, useful to maintain a natural feel on monitors and coherence with other sources. The 134 dB input dynamic range simplifies daily work: the goal is to limit gain adjustments and maintain stable quality from one user to another, even with large level differences.

Security, Monitoring, and Remote Control

The receiver is designed for equipment fleets and multi-user systems: AES 256 encryption for sensitive content, Ethernet ports for control, and compatibility with monitoring tools such as Sennheiser Control Cockpit and Wireless System Manager (WSM), as well as third-party control systems via plug-in. Remote control via Smart Assist (Bluetooth Low Energy) adds extra comfort for quick adjustments near the rack.
