The Missing Link Between the Evolution Range and the XLR World

Sennheiser Evolution series microphones are highly valued for capturing voices in interviews, reporting, conferences, or content creation. This microphone preamplifier in adapter format has been designed to facilitate their integration into more "studio" or "broadcast" setups, where XLR connectivity and Phantom power are standard. In practice, it allows you to keep your mini-jack microphone while benefiting from an easy-to-integrate 3-pin XLR output in any existing audio chain.

Who This Preamplifier Is For and Its Most Useful Applications

This preamplifier is intended for videographers, sound recordists, podcasters, and technicians who use a Sennheiser Evolution microphone with a lockable 3.5mm mini-jack and want to connect it cleanly to an XLR input. It is particularly relevant when working with a field mixer, portable recorder, console, or audio interface equipped with XLR mic inputs and Phantom power. It is also a reassuring solution in real-world conditions, as the locking mini-jack limits accidental disconnections during movement, outdoor interviews, or long recordings.

Level and Bass Control to Save Time During Mixing

Both in the field and in the studio, the perceived quality of a voice depends as much on the capture as on the management of level and low frequencies. This preamplifier provides two essential, directly accessible controls to adapt your signal to the context without multiplying accessories.

Switchable -12 dB Attenuation

The switchable -12 dB gain acts as a pad (attenuator). It helps secure the recording when the source is loud or very close to the microphone, or when the downstream XLR input easily saturates. Result: less risk of distortion and a more controlled level right from the recording.

Switchable High-Pass Filter

The switchable high-pass filter is a simple and effective ally to improve intelligibility. It helps reduce rumble, microphone stand vibrations, handling noise, and some ambient noises (distant traffic, ventilation), preserving a clearer voice that is easier to process in post-production.

Phantom Power Required

The preamplifier requires Phantom power from 10 to 52 Volts. Before a session, check that the device you are connecting to (console, interface, recorder, microphone preamplifier) can supply Phantom power within this range. This ensures stable operation and prevents unpleasant surprises when recording.
