A Pickup Born from the Golden Age of Custom Shop Mods

In the late 1970s, Seymour Duncan established itself as the reference for custom pickups. In 1978, the demand was clear: rewind a P.A.F to make it more sensitive to natural and artificial harmonics while preserving the vintage spirit. The "'78 Model" follows this approach with a winding faithful to the specifications of the era and a decidedly musical personality.

Who It's For and Its Usage

The Seymour Duncan "'78 Model" in the bridge position is aimed at guitarists seeking a vintage-voiced sound but with the energy needed to go from nervous crunch to biting lead. It excels on rock/hard rock riffs, articulate solos, and techniques where harmonics need to "pop" effortlessly, while maintaining expressive pick dynamics.

Alnico II + Double Coil: Warmth, Attack, and Harmonics

Its Alnico II magnet provides a pleasant natural compression and warm tone, while the double coil (humbucker) ensures a consistent output level for dense and defined saturation. Thanks to its 4-conductor configuration, you can utilize modern wiring options (split, series/parallel) to expand the tonal palette, from a snappier single-coil-like sound to classic humbucker thickness.
