A Faithful Tribute to the Classic "Hot-Rodded P.A.Fs"
In the late 70s, Seymour Duncan established himself as a key reference for custom pickups. The '78 Model captures the spirit and specifications of a humbucker rewound for a guitarist who became a hard rock legend, with a clear demand: greater sensitivity to harmonics while retaining the organic tone of a P.A.F. The result is a pickup with a vintage character... but with that extra soul that makes an amp come alive from the very first chords.
For Which Sounds and Guitarists?
In the bridge position, this Seymour Duncan '78 Model is tailored for those who want a powerful sound without falling into hyper-compression. Expect fiery crunches, thick rhythms, and biting leads that cut through the mix, with excellent right-hand dynamics. Its zebra finish without cover perfectly complements a rock/hard rock-oriented guitar while maintaining a classic and confident look.
A "Custom" Winding and Alnico 2 Magnet for a Lively Response
Thanks to its Alnico 2 magnet and a winding calibrated to enhance harmonic richness, the '78 Model offers an ideal balance: expressive mids, present but never harsh highs, and a firm enough low end to maintain definition in standard tuning. The 4-conductor cable allows you to easily explore coil splitting for clearer, snappier tones or more creative configurations depending on your electronics.
