Blackouts Bass: Seymour Duncan's DNA Built for Aggression

The Blackouts for Bass series was developed to simplify access to a massive and modern sound without needing to "over-EQ." With the ASB-BO-5B, Seymour Duncan offers a pickup with a bold character: full lows, fast response, and clear highs, while maintaining a very direct playing feel.

Who Is It For and What For?

This pickup is aimed at 5-string bassists who want a high output level and excellent precision at the bridge: metal, punk, heavy rock, but also any context where a solid low end and clear attack are sought (snappy slap, pick riffs, palm muting, chords). Thanks to its blade design, it remains comfortable even with varied playing techniques and wide string spacing.

Power, Silence, and Balance: The Recipe of the Active Soapbar

The ASB-BO-5B combines active electronics and a ceramic magnet to achieve an energetic, percussive, and very stable sound. The dual blade design promotes even balance between strings and a consistent response across the entire playing width, a real advantage on a 5-string. Its format is designed as a direct replacement for the EMG 40 format (depending on the instrument), convenient for performance and reliability upgrades on stage and in the studio.
