A Blackouts "Retribution" crafted for stage and studio

Part of the Seymour Duncan Blackouts lineage, the DINO-B2-7STR "Dino C 7 PH2" is a bridge pickup developed around Dino Cazares' needs: more headroom before saturation, a sharper attack, and more stable string response when gain levels rise. The goal is simple: maintain a massive sound without becoming muddy, even on fast riffs and very low tunings.

For whom and for what

This active humbucker is aimed at 7-string guitarists who want a bridge pickup capable of handling heavy distortion without losing articulation. It excels in metal, aggressive rock, tight rhythms, djent, and all situations where attack precision and low-end retention make the difference. Ideal if you're looking for a pickup that "cuts" through the mix while remaining dense.

Active preamp, reduced noise, and more defined response

The active design of this model emphasizes a dynamic response and controlled noise level, with a preamp calibrated to retain clarity and presence. In the bridge position, the magnet and voicing are designed to deliver firm lows, effective mids, and precise highs, to better control distortion and limit unwanted compression. The 4-conductor wiring facilitates modern setups (including coil split, depending on electronics and chosen wiring scheme).

Questions frequently asked

Is the Dino C 7 PH2 compatible with a 7-string guitar?

This model is designed for 7-string electric guitars and mounts in the bridge position. Its soapbar format must match the cavity on the instrument.

What tone does this Seymour Duncan Blackouts active pickup offer?

The ceramic magnet and active preamp target tight lows and a clear attack under high saturation. The bridge voicing promotes stable string response in low tunings and fast rhythms.

Is it necessary to change the electronics to install this active pickup?

A dedicated power supply for active pickups is required for installation. 25 kΩ potentiometers are recommended. Thus, the guitar's electronics must be adapted to this type of pickup.

Does the Seymour Duncan DINO-B2-7STR allow coil splitting?

Thanks to its 4-conductor wiring, coil splitting is possible depending on the wiring scheme used and the installed electronics.

Is this bridge pickup suitable for djent and modern metal?

Developed with Dino Cazares's signature, this dual humbucker is aimed at metal, aggressive rock, and djent. Its Blackouts Retribution design seeks to reduce noise and unwanted compression as gain increases.
