An evolution tailored for low tunings and modern playing
Inspired by the roar of alternative metal tones, the Alt.Metal Blackouts build on the massive crunch of the original Blackouts while pushing clarity further. The result: tighter lows, refined highs for increased clarity, and a wide frequency range that highlights harmonics, even on a 7-string guitar.
Who is it for, and what playing styles?
This active pickup set is aimed at guitarists playing with high saturation levels, drop tunings, or very dynamic attack. In rhythm, it maintains the precision needed for fast patterns and dense riffs. In lead, it offers sustain and a balanced response, while remaining surprisingly clean and even when you roll back the gain.
Two complementary positions: bridge attack, neck versatility
The bridge pickup retains the energy and power of the Blackouts, with an added focus on the percussive quality of palm-muted notes: attacks come through clearly and the lows stay controlled. The neck pickup delivers a polished clean tone, then transforms into a big sound with more aggressive mids and increased sustain as you raise the gain, perfect for solos and expressive lines.

Questions frequently asked
Are these 7-string pickups suitable for drop tunings and fast riffs?
The active electronics and ceramic magnets provide better-controlled lows for low tunings. The response emphasizes clarity of fast patterns and palm-muted notes.
Is the wiring provided to install this set of active pickups?
The set includes potentiometers, quick-connectors, a capacitor, an output jack, a battery clip, and the wiring. On a guitar already equipped with active pickups with quick-connectors, replacement is done by unplugging and plugging in. Battery power is supplied via the included clip.
What is the tonal difference between the bridge pickup and the neck pickup?
At the bridge, the sound favors energy and the percussive character of palm-muted notes. At the neck, the clean tone remains refined, then the mids become more aggressive with increased sustain as the gain rises.
Do the Alt.Metal Blackouts 7-string pickups maintain a usable clean sound?
In the neck position, the pickup provides a refined clean sound and, with more gain, more aggressive mids as well as increased sustain.
Alt.Metal Blackouts 7-string: is there a soapbar format available?
The soapbar format is announced for the 7-string models, with possibilities for passive and active installations. The finish of this set is black.
