A Classic Born in 1974, Still at the Top of the Range

Seymour Duncan designed this humbucker combination in England in 1974, and it remains one of their favorite choices: a JB Model in the bridge position for impact, paired with the Jazz Model in the neck position for precision. Over the decades, this set has established itself as a reference for guitarists who want to cover a wide range of tones without changing guitars.

For Which Guitars and Styles?

This set is intended for guitars equipped for humbuckers and musicians seeking a true sonic palette: from blues to hard rock, country to modern metal. The JB at the bridge delivers the punch and presence needed for riffs and solos that cut through the mix, while the Jazz at the neck offers a clean attack, ideal for smooth lines, defined chords, and rounder leads without muddiness.

Sound Character and Design: Grit, Sustain, and Options

The SH-4 JB Model (bridge) is the brand's most popular humbucker, known for its warm coils and Alnico 5 magnet: expressive mids, articulated lows, and harmonically rich highs for solos that "sing." The SH-2n Jazz Model (neck) features a specific winding and an Alnico 5 magnet for clear high-end response, full but tight lows, and scooped mids that provide a very musical smoothness.

Both pickups are handmade in the Santa Barbara workshop. They incorporate a nickel-silver baseplate, a 4-conductor cable to enable multiple wiring schemes (split, parallel, etc.), and vacuum wax potting for stable performance at high volume with reduced risk of feedback.
