A Faithful Tribute to the Legendary 1950s Humbuckers
The Seymour Duncan Antiquity range pays homage to iconic fifties guitars by offering boutique pickups that are both visually credible and, above all, musically formidable. This Antiquity Humbucker kit is designed as a highly realistic reproduction: materials, manufacturing methods, and sonic philosophy are all aimed at one goal-to recapture the feel of historic P.A.F.s as we love them, alive, dynamic, and rich in harmonics.
For Which Guitarists and Styles?
This set is intended for guitarists seeking a true vintage tone without harshness, with a dynamic response that respects touch. The neck pickup delivers a warm and balanced clear tone, perfect for blues, smooth rhythms, and singing solos. The bridge pickup provides the typical open and airy character, with present but never shrill highs, and bass that is both round and punchy-ideal for rock and blues.
What Makes the Difference: Aging, Winding, and Components
Each Antiquity humbucker is made at the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop and then aged to replicate natural wear. The neck pickup combines a soft attack in the highs and full bass, while maintaining excellent note definition thanks to custom-aged Alnico II magnets. The vintage-style winding and moderate output level highlight a beautiful harmonic richness and a very musical natural compression.
The bridge pickup is wound to provide a coherent balance with the neck pickup: more bite and "growl" when attacked, while retaining warmth. The realism also comes from carefully considered design details: custom 42AWG copper wire, properly sized Alnico 2 magnets, no wax potting finish, and winding done on a Leesona machine from the old Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA. The result: a set with authentic character, responsive to guitar volume and playing style, instantly giving your instrument a credible sonic patina.
