A Legacy Born on March 28, 1968

On March 28, 1968, Seymour W. Duncan met Jimi Hendrix at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, where Hendrix was playing two concerts at the Field House Arena. Seymour presented him with a rare gift: hand-wound pickups made especially for him. Installed on Jimi's white Stratocaster by Roger Mayer, these pickups marked a decisive moment in the brand's history. Decades later, Seymour Duncan brings together this spirit and aesthetic in a signature set aimed at guitarists who want to approach this legendary sound.

Who This Set Is For and the Styles It Excels In

Designed for a Strat-type guitar, this set is intended for musicians seeking expressive clear tones and vintage overdrives with character. The neck pickup offers a consistent and full register, ideal for chords, blues melodies, double-stops, and hybrid chord/arpeggio lines. The bridge pickup delivers an aggressive attack that cuts through the mix, perfect for leads and punchy rhythms. The intermediate positions recreate the typical Strat scooped and snappy sound.

A Design Crafted for the Hendrix Feeling

The heart of this set is based on a simple idea: to recapture the feel of a Strat played "upside down." Thanks to reversed magnets, the string balance and dynamic response evoke the behavior of a right-handed guitar strung for a lefty. The result: a livelier response under the fingers, a musical high end, and articulation that highlights playing nuances, from light picking to more assertive attacks.
