A powerful bass variant in the Seymour Duncan Pedal Amps series

The PowerStage 700 Bass is part of the Seymour Duncan Pedal Amps series, a family of amplifiers designed to pack "maximum watts" into an ultra-compact chassis. The range comes in three models, and this bass-dedicated version emphasizes low-end performance, clarity, and robustness, while remaining easy to integrate on a pedalboard or in a minimalist rack. Designed by engineer Kevin Beller (also a bassist), it aims for a simple goal: simplify the rig without sacrificing impact, definition, and musicality.

For which bassists and usage contexts?

The Seymour Duncan PowerStage 700 Bass is aimed at bassists seeking an efficient, powerful, and reliable solution for rehearsal, stage, and recording. It suits both intermediate musicians looking for a "plug and play" amp and advanced players building a rig around an external preamp, preamp pedal, or modeler.

Its compact format makes it an excellent choice for modern setups: pedalboard + cabinet, DI to PA, or direct recording via the DI output. Style-wise, it naturally covers genres where the bass needs to remain precise and present: rock, metal, funk, pop, gospel, fusion, electro... while retaining the ability to explore more "vintage" textures thanks to the saturation section.

Controls, connectivity, and versatility: designed to fit anywhere

The PowerStage 700 Bass features a "real life" oriented architecture: a preamp designed to offer a wide palette of sounds, followed by a power section capable of delivering the energy needed to fill a stage. The 6-band EQ, optimized for bass, allows precise tonal balance adjustments: reinforcing the low-end foundation, cleaning up low mids, emphasizing attack in the upper mids, controlling highs, and adjusting presence to gain definition depending on the cabinet, room, or mix.

The integrated distortion adds real versatility: from a warm mild saturation to a raw and energetic distortion, it allows switching from a round, "clean" sound to a gritty tone without multiplying pedals. For instrument changes, a -10 dB pad (gain reduction) facilitates the transition between active and passive basses, maintaining a stable level and avoiding input overload.

For integration into complex rigs, the effects loop is ideal for placing delays, reverbs, or post-preamp processing, and for cleanly working with modelers and effects pedals. Finally, the connectivity is designed to cover all configurations: output to cabinet (6.35mm Jack and Speakon), DI XLR for front-of-house/mixing console, and headphone output for silent practice.

Sound

The PowerStage 700 Bass aims for a clear, solid, and controlled response, with tight lows and rich harmonics that remain clear even at high volume. In clean mode, you get a precise foundation that respects your instrument's character, pickups, and playing style (fingers, pick, slap), with a good low-end feel. The EQ, focused on critical bass frequency areas, helps quickly find a sound that "holds" in a mix without unnecessary boominess.

When engaging distortion, the amp shifts from a slightly rough vintage-style saturation to a more aggressive texture, useful for making the bass stand out in a rock trio, reinforcing a pick riff, or adding character in the studio. The whole design remains performance-oriented: a powerful, coherent sound ready to adapt to your cabinet, PA, or audio interface.
