A Vintage-Style Jazzmaster Bridge Pickup
The Seymour Duncan SJM-1B is a replacement pickup in the Jazzmaster format, designed for those seeking a vintage and musical tone at the bridge. Its personality emphasizes definition and articulation while maintaining the wide-open feel typical of Jazzmaster guitars, perfect for surf tones and detailed cleans.
For Which Guitarist and Styles?
In the bridge position, this pickup targets guitarists wanting a more direct response, with sharp attacks and naturally prominent harmonics. It excels in Country and Pop for chord clarity, Surf for cutting, reverberated lines, and Blues or Classic Rock for snappy crunches that respond perfectly to guitar volume. In Jazz, it delivers precision and excellent note separation on complex voicings.
Sound Character and Design: Dynamic, Presence, and Definition
Equipped with an Alnico V magnet and 1-conductor wiring, the SJM-1B aims for easy installation and authentic sound. With a 8.4 K resistance and a 8.81 KHz peak, it offers a balanced output level, pronounced presence, and a lively top end without losing the warmth needed to retain body. Its black finish enhances the vintage aesthetic and integrates easily on a Jazzmaster with either a subtle or contrasting look.
