A Classic Revisited: The Danelectro Spirit Adapted to the Strat
The SLS-1 Lipstick Tube Strat adopts the construction codes and sonic signature of the famous vintage "lipstick" pickups, while being designed to fit into a standard Stratocaster pickup cavity. The result: you retain the crisp, fine, and crystalline character typical of lipsticks, with the bounce and attack of a Strat, all in an ultra-elegant Nickel finish. For Which Guitarist and in Which Positions?
This pickup is aimed at guitarists who want more air and brightness than a standard Strat single coil, with very expressive pick dynamics. In the neck position, you get clear, precise, and singing chords; in the middle, funky and percussive tones; at the bridge, a more present attack for rockabilly riffs, cutting blues, or biting leads. For a versatile Strat with noise reduction in the intermediate positions, choose the Middle RwRp version.Design and Sound Characteristics
The SLS-1 is a passive single-coil pickup based on an Alnico 5 bar magnet. Its relatively low winding favors definition, clarity, and that famous "jangle" that immediately stands out in the mix. When pushing the amp or a pedal, it retains lively highs and a grittier saturation without losing the "lipstick" character. In terms of reliability, the pickup comes with a shielded 2-conductor balanced cable and a wax potting under vacuum to reduce the risk of microphonic feedback at high volume.Technical specifications

Questions frequently asked
Does the Seymour Duncan SLS-1 Lipstick Strat install without modification on a Stratocaster?
The Stratocaster drop-in format uses a Strat-style mounting bracket and fits into a standard Stratocaster pickup cavity. The finish features a nickel cover.
What sound does a lipstick pickup produce in the neck position on a Strat?
In the neck position, the DC resistance is 3.4 kΩ. The tone is clear, precise, and vocal, with the characteristic brightness of a lipstick winding.
Does the Middle RwRp version eliminate noise in positions 2 and 4?
The Middle RwRp option combines a reverse wound and reverse polarity coil. When paired with a neck or bridge pickup, it provides hum-cancelling operation in positions 2 and 4. This version pertains to the middle position.
What is the level difference between the neck, middle, and bridge positions?
The neck and middle versions have a DC resistance of 3.4 kΩ, while the bridge version reaches 5.1 kΩ. The bridge position thus offers a more pronounced attack suitable for rockabilly, blues, or lead tones.
Does the SLS-1 have shielded wiring and anti-feedback treatment?
A 2-conductor shielded cable is provided, and the pickup is wax-potted under vacuum to reduce feedback.
