A Seymour Duncan classic inspired by the best fifties Strats
The Alnico II Pro Strat Stag follows the tradition of vintage single coils: materials, finishes, and voicing are designed to recapture the dynamics and musicality of 1950s Strat pickups. This "Stag" version features staggered pole pieces, with a faithful yet modernized approach offering softer highs and a particularly singing overall balance.
Who is it for, and in which styles?
This passive pickup is an excellent choice if you're looking for a warmer Stratocaster (or Strat-type guitar), with a less biting high end and smooth lows. In the neck position, it excels at velvety cleans and blues, while in the bridge position it retains twang and definition without becoming harsh. Its moderate output level (around 6.40 kOhms resistance) favors nuance, volume control playing, and amp-driven overdrives.
Design: Alnico II, Heavy Formvar wire, and anti-feedback treatment
The Alnico II Pro Staggered series for Stratocaster uses hand-ground Alnico II magnets and Heavy Formvarmagnetic wire, combined with a specific winding to produce a dynamic, smooth, and highly responsive tone. The staggered pole pieces follow your guitar's radius for a more even response across the strings. The coils are hand-finished, then assembled and lacquered in a "golden age" spirit, followed by a wax bath that helps reduce feedback even when pushing volume and gain.

Questions frequently asked
Is this pickup compatible with a left-handed Stratocaster?
This version is designed for a left-handed Stratocaster-style guitar and is intended for the neck or bridge positions.
What tone does the Alnico II Pro Strat Stag provide?
The Alnico II magnets and Heavy Formvar wire produce a warm range with softer highs. The peak at 9 kHz preserves definition without emphasizing harshness.
What is the resistance of this single coil?
The resistance is 6.4 kOhms. This moderate output level enhances playing dynamics, volume control, and amplifier-driven overdrives.
Are staggered pole pieces useful on a Strat?
The staggered poles follow the guitar's radius to distribute the response more evenly across the strings. The Alnico II magnets are hand-ground.
Does the pickup help limit feedback at high gain?
A wax potting is applied to the coils to help reduce feedback when volume and gain are increased.
