The "Custom" According to Seymour Duncan: The PAF Spirit, with More Bite
The TB-5 "Duncan Custom" is based on a vintage PAF-style humbucker sound but with a tighter response and more compressed dynamics. The result: a bridge pickup that naturally cuts through the mix while maintaining definition for big chords and modern rhythms.
For Which Guitarists and Styles?
Designed for the bridge position, this Trembucker is an excellent choice if you play energetic rock, hard rock, punk, or metal and are looking for a powerful but clean attack sound. It works particularly well on guitars with a warm character (mahogany, set neck, etc.) by adding bite in the upper mids and better clarity.
What Makes It Stand Out on a Vibrato Guitar
Thanks to its wider Trembucker spacing, the strings align more precisely over the pole pieces on guitars equipped with a vibrato or wide bridge. Add to that a shielded 4-conductor cable to multiply wiring options, and a wax potted pickup to maintain control at high gain: you get a stage and studio pickup ready for tight saturated tones as well as snappy cleans.
