A 5-string bass with a decidedly "modern" positioning
The M2-5 Transparent Blue MN fits into the world of contemporary performance-oriented basses: 5 strings, 24 frets, dual humbuckers, and a multi-adjustment preamp. Its "New modern bass" design and active/passive configuration make it suitable for a variety of situations, from studio work to amplified stages.
For whom and for which styles?
This bass is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced bassists seeking a responsive, precise instrument capable of quickly adapting to a mix. It excels particularly in funk (modern slap), rock, pop, gospel, fusion, and styles requiring a solid and defined B string. The 24 frets also suit more melodic playing and solo lines.
The sound
The mahogany body provides a warm foundation, with thick lows and rich mids, helping the bass stay present without becoming aggressive. The humbuckers deliver a full, powerful, and quiet output, with a good headroom for sharp attacks. The Marcus Heritage-3 preamp expands the tonal palette: the midrange control (with frequency adjustment) allows shifting from a round, broad sound to a more incisive definition, while the passive mode favors a more organic and direct response. The through-body bridge enhances sustain and stability, useful for chords, long notes, and strong attacks.
Recommended compatible accessories
To make the most of the specified scale length, opt for a 5-string long scale bass string set suitable for a 34" / 864 mm scale.
