The Essentials to Know About the Sire V1 Bass

  • The Sire Feel right from the entry-level: neck with a "smooth" feel and rolled fretboard edges for a natural grip.

  • Balance of Warmth and Attack: Mahogany body paired with a hard maple neck with a C profile.

  • Simple and Musical Control: Passive electronics with 2 volumes (neck pickup / bridge pickup) and a master tone.

  • Sleek and Effective Look: Black finish, satin hardware, and a 3-ply black pickguard.

Series 1: The Sire Spirit, Accessible Without Compromising Comfort

With the launch of the new Series 1, Sire has a clear goal: to make its playability DNA accessible to the widest audience. The Sire V1 fits this philosophy by retaining elements usually associated with higher-end instruments, starting with the carefully crafted neck feel and rolled fretboard edges. The result: a bass that feels comfortable quickly, "invites playing," and inspires confidence from the first minutes, while maintaining a simple, direct, and efficiency-oriented approach.

A Bass Designed to Progress (and Record) with Confidence

The Sire V1 is primarily aimed at beginners who want a pleasant, stable, and consistent instrument, but also at intermediate bassists looking for a rehearsal, home studio, or minimalist stage bass. Its passive electronics and intuitive controls make it an excellent foundation to work on right-hand technique, dynamics, and nuance without getting lost in complex settings.

Regarding styles, its architecture is ideal for genres where a bass that sits easily in the mix is expected: pop, rock, funk, groove, variety, and more broadly any context requiring a solid and controllable tone via the knobs. The two separate volumes also allow refining the character depending on the track: warmth and foundation, or more definition and presence.

Sound Character: Warmth of Mahogany, Precision of Maple, 100% Passive Control

The mahogany body is known for providing a warm sonic foundation, with generous mids and a sense of density that supports the low-end. Paired with a hard maple neck with a C profile, this creates an interesting balance: mahogany adds body and "thickness," while maple contributes a sharper attack and a more direct response under the fingers.

The rosewood fretboard completes the setup by rounding out the high-end feel and providing a comfortable touch, especially pleasant for back-and-forth lines, ghost notes, and right-hand nuances. The 9.5" radius contributes to a modern feel: versatile enough to play near the neck with comfortable action, while still comfortable when playing harder or seeking precise articulation.

The passive electronics keep it straightforward: Volume (Neck PU), Volume (Bridge PU), and Tone (Master). In practice, this setup is very effective for quickly shaping the sound. Favoring the neck pickup yields a rounder, fuller tone; opening the bridge pickup adds definition and precision. The master tone knob can tame harmonics and soften attack for a more vintage vibe or, conversely, maintain clarity for lines that need to stand out.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To complement the Sire V1 safely, you can choose a standard guitar/bass strap (classic ends) to improve comfort during rehearsals, a universal stand to store it safely between sessions, and a microfiber cloth to preserve the finish and satin hardware daily.
