A Modern Jazz Bass at the Heart of the V Series (2nd Generation)

The V3 2nd Generation is part of the V series "Sire by Marcus Miller" as a particularly coherent entry point into the revisited Jazz Bass aesthetic. The idea is simple: keep the ergonomics and feel that made the format successful, while adding comprehensive electronics and a finish designed for everyday playing. The result: an accessible bass, but built to withstand rehearsals, gigs, and rapid technical progress.

Who Is It For, and Which Styles?

The Marcus Miller V3 2nd Generation targets demanding beginners and intermediate bassists who want a single bass capable of covering a wide range. Its "J" style configuration and 3-band preamp make it very comfortable in funk, jazz, pop, rock, R&B, and gospel: you can switch from a round, mellow sound to a sharp attack without changing instruments.

The Sound

The mahogany (body) + maple (neck) duo offers an effective balance: depth in the lows, present mids to stand out in the band, and a clear attack for fast lines. The rosewood fingerboard adds slight warmth in the upper spectrum, while the rolled edges improve the feel under the left hand, especially appreciated during long sessions.

On the electronics side, the Marcus Standard J-Revolution set highlights the definition and dynamics typical of a "J" configuration, sensitive to right-hand touch and nuances. The Marcus Heritage-3 preamp adds real sculpting potential: the EQ (treble, mids, bass) and mid-frequency control allow precise adjustment of presence, scooping for slap, or thickening fingerstyle tones. The Pickup Blender and mini toggle Active/Passive switch facilitate register changes mid-song.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To complete your bass, a strap (standard ends) and a 6.35 mm instrument jack cable are essentials. A bass stand secures storage at home or in the studio, and a tuner (clip-on or pedal) remains a reliable choice to keep impeccable tuning during rehearsals and on stage.
