A V3 2nd Generation Designed as an Entry Point to the V Series Without Sacrificing Essentials
Developed within the Sire universe in collaboration with Marcus Miller, the V3 2nd Generation positions itself as an entry point into the V series, with a true "musician" orientation: Jazz-style ergonomics, refined luthiery, and proprietary electronics focused on versatility. It features choices usually reserved for more ambitious models, such as rolled fingerboard edges and the Heritage-3 preamp, for a bass that is immediately enjoyable and highly usable in a band context.
Who This Bass Is For and the Styles It Excels In
The Sire Marcus Miller V3 2nd Generation is particularly suited for beginners to intermediate players who want a serious and evolving bass, as well as guitarists or multi-instrumentalists looking for a reliable and easy-to-adjust "J". It feels at home in funk and slap, jazz/fusion, R&B, pop, rock, and gospel: in passive mode for an organic and direct sound, in active mode to reinforce the low end, scoop the mids, or add brightness without losing clarity.
The Sound
The dual single-coil Marcus Standard J-Revolution pickups deliver the punchy attack, definition, and dynamics typical of a "J" bass, with excellent right-hand nuance articulation. The Heritage-3 preamp adds a very musical 3-band EQ, and especially a mid-frequency control that allows precise selection of the area to boost (for punch) or cut back (to make room for guitars and keyboards). The mahogany (body) and maple (neck) duo enhances roundness and sustain while maintaining clear articulation, while the rosewood fingerboard softens the extreme highs for a convincing balance from low to upper midrange.
