A Modernized "Jazz" Within the Sire New Gen Series
As an iconic model of the Marcus Miller x Sire collaboration, the V7 adopts the codes of "Jazz"-style basses while adapting them to current demands: ergonomics designed for modern playing, refined finishes, and very complete electronics. In this New Gen version, the alder body and active/passive operation aim for a particularly convincing balance between vintage warmth and contemporary precision.
For Which Bassists and Styles?
The Sire V7 Alder-4 New Gen is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced bassists seeking a 4-string capable of covering a wide repertoire without compromise. It excels in funk (snappy, dynamic slap), jazz (definition and nuance), pop, and R&B (clean and controlled low end), while remaining very effective in rock thanks to its punch and presence in the mix.
The Sound
The Marcus Super-J Revolution single-coil pickup set emphasizes quick response and note-to-note precision, with an airy high register typical of "Jazz"-style basses. In passive mode, the bass delivers a more organic character, ideal for round, expressive, and dynamic lines. In active mode, the Marcus Heritage-3 preamp provides headroom, bite, and fine control: the 3-band EQ sculpts the foundation in the lows, brightness, and especially the mids thanks to an adjustable frequency, very useful for fitting perfectly within the band's spectrum. The alder/maple duo enhances clarity and attack, while the Modern-S bridge promotes stable intonation and consistent response across the entire fingerboard.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
With its 34" / 864 mm scale length, this bass accepts 4-string long scale bass strings (a 45-105 gauge is an excellent versatile choice). For transport, opt for a gig bag or a case designed for a 34" electric bass. A comfortable strap and a good quality mono jack cable ideally complete your setup.
