Essential Information About the Sire Marcus Miller V7 Vintage Bass

  • The flagship model of the brand, designed to capture the "Jazz Type" tone beloved by Marcus Miller.

  • North American alder body and hard maple neck: clear attack, dynamic response, and strong presence in the mix.

  • Fully featured electronics: Marcus Heritage-3 preamp with mid frequency control and passive mode via push/pull.

  • Marcus Vintage-J Revolution Set pickups + Marcus Miller Modern-S bridge: definition, punch, and versatility for both live and studio use.

A "Vintage" V7 at the Heart of the Marcus Miller Universe

The V7 Vintage follows the lineage of "Jazz Type" basses, a silhouette that has become iconic for its ergonomics and versatility. Presented as the brand's flagship model, it incorporates the fundamentals that made this format successful: playing comfort, precise articulation, and a wide tonal palette. With its refined aesthetics (3-ply black/white pickguard and glossy finish) and chrome hardware, it is clearly aimed at stage, recording, and all contexts where a responsive and expressive bass is expected.

Who the V7 Vintage is For: From Groove to Modern Playing

Thanks to its detailed settings and the option to switch to passive mode, the Sire Marcus Miller V7 Vintage suits both intermediate bassists looking for a complete instrument and advanced players who want a bass ready to cover multiple genres. Its "Jazz Type" DNA makes it particularly comfortable in funk, jazz, pop, rock, R&B, and gospel, with excellent responsiveness to nuances (fingerstyle, slap, pick) and the ability to cut through the mix without effort.

Sound: "Jazz" Clarity, Sculptable Mids, and True Passive Mode

The combination of alder (body) and hard maple (neck) promotes a sharp attack, solid low mids, and excellent note clarity, ideal for groovy lines as well as walking bass. The Marcus Vintage-J Revolution pickup set emphasizes definition and balance: firm lows, present mids, and precise highs, with the typical "bite" of Jazz configurations when pushing articulation.

The electronics are a strong point: the Volume / Tone (Dual Pot) / Blender control section allows fine blending of the pickups, while the Treble / Middle / Bass EQ of the Marcus Heritage-3 preamp provides ample power to adapt to any amp or mixing console. The mid frequency control is particularly useful for precisely placing presence (rounder mids for fingerstyle, sharper for slap). Finally, the push/pull for passive mode enables an instant switch to a more organic, simple, and direct response, highly appreciated in the studio or for vintage sounds.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To get the best out of this 4-string bass with a 860 mm scale length, choose a 4-string long scale bass string set (suitable for scales close to 34 inches). A wider strap is also recommended for comfort during rehearsals and on stage.
