Essential Information About the Sire V7 Vintage S.Ash-5 WB MN Bass

  • 5-string Jazz format with a vintage look: black pickguard, ivory binding, and a very elegant White Blond finish.

  • Swamp ash body and maple neck/fretboard: crisp attack, tight lows, and ideal definition for modern lines.

  • Complete Marcus Miller electronics: Marcus Vintage-J Revolution pickups + Marcus Heritage-3 preamp with midrange control (and midrange frequency adjustment).

  • Stage/studio versatility thanks to the Active/Passive mini toggle, pickup blender, and a very smooth EQ palette.

A V7 Vintage: The "Jazz" DNA in the Sire Range, with the Marcus Miller Signature

The V7 Vintage S.Ash-5 WB MN embodies the "Jazz Type" spirit dear to Marcus Miller: a bass designed to offer the comfort and aesthetics of classic instruments while adding modern electronics capable of covering very wide ranges. This 5-string version emphasizes versatility and control: you can stay in a simple, organic passive tone or switch to active mode to precisely sculpt your place in the mix.

For Whom and Which Styles: A 5-String Built for Groove

With its long scale, wide nut, and Jazz-type configuration, this V7 Vintage is particularly aimed at intermediate to advanced bassists who want an expressive, stable 5-string ready to handle rehearsals and concerts. It excels in funk, neo-soul, pop, rock, and gospel, while remaining very credible in jazz when favoring a softer setting (tone and/or passive mode). Its size and weight, however, invite careful balance when playing standing during long sets.

Sound Character: Swamp Ash, Maple, and Marcus Electronics for a Precise and Adjustable Tone

Swamp ash generally provides a quick response and beautiful articulation, with firm lows and airy highs. Combined with a maple neck and maple fretboard, the instrument offers a direct feel, with a clear attack and excellent note-by-note clarity: perfect for ghost notes, pick patterns, or well-defined back-and-forth lines.

The Marcus Vintage-J Revolution pickup set targets that typical "Jazz" tone: a neck pickup that is often rounder and warmer, and a bridge pickup that is sharper and more precise, with a "nasal" quality useful for cutting through a dense mix. The Pickup Blender allows fine blending of the two pickups, transitioning from a generous low end to a sharper definition without harsh breaks.

The Marcus Heritage-3 preamp enhances versatility: you can add low-end foundation, open up the highs for a more modern brightness, and especially work the midrange area with dedicated control, complemented by a midrange frequency adjustment (dual potentiometer). This is a real advantage for adapting the bass to your amp, PA system, or room acoustics. Finally, the Active/Passive mini toggle is ideal for securing a gig (or instantly reverting to a more "vintage" behavior), while maintaining very intuitive control ergonomics.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

For comfortable and reliable use, a wide strap (to better distribute weight) and a universal bass stand are simple, useful, and perfectly suited choices for this type of instrument.
