A Mighty GigRig Format Designed for "Deep" Consoles
The Mighty GigRig follows a very practical approach: offering a wheeled rack capable of housing bulkier sound equipment, notably some mixers known for their depth. Where a standard rack can quickly show its limits when integrating a console, multicore cables, or fixed connectors, the Mighty GigRig's design emphasizes usable space and modularity.
Its architecture allows mounting on 8U front rails while maintaining a generous 12U+ depth for setups where the rear of the equipment (power supplies, cable bundles, connectors) must remain accessible and protected. And if your configuration grows, the optional 8U rear rails enable additional mounting, up to a total of 16 rack units mounted at the back.
Who Is It For and What Are Its Uses?
This wheeled rack is aimed at sound technicians, contractors, stage managers, mobile studios, public institutions, and event organizations who want to deploy a stable control station without losing time during setup. It is especially suitable for setups including a "deep" console, processors, wireless receivers, recorders, or audio/video distribution, with the need to keep everything cabled and ready to use.
Thanks to the lid that converts into a base, the Mighty GigRig is also relevant for DJ, conference, or audiovisual configurations: you can aim for a comfortable working height when the system is open, or conversely lower the station by removing the lid to adapt to the stage, lectern, or screen positions.
Design, Modularity, and Details That Make All the Difference
12U+ Depth: More Room for Cabling and Consoles
The 12U+ depth was designed for deeper mixers and, more broadly, for all installations where the rear of the rack should not be "crammed." This extra space simplifies connector management, reduces cable strain, and allows for a cleaner setup, especially when working with installed connectors or cable bundles that remain in place between gigs.
8U Front Rails and Optional 8U Rear Rails
The main mounting is on the 8U front rails. To go further, optional 8U rear rails allow adding additional equipment at the back, which can be very useful for separating functions: for example, processing and wireless on one side, distribution and interfaces on the other. Overall, the setup can represent up to 16 rack units mounted at the back, depending on the chosen configuration.
Removable Lid: Elevation Base or Lower DJ Station
The lid is not just a simple cover: it is designed to serve as a base to place the GigRig at a practical height when the system is open and in use. This approach improves ergonomics during operation, especially when manipulating faders, accessing controls, or monitoring displays continuously.
Another advantage: the lid can be removed to create a lower DJ station. This flexibility makes the Mighty GigRig more versatile, including for audio and audiovisual applications where a reduced height, a more discreet integration, or better compatibility with a constrained stage plan is desired.
Connector Management: Installed XLR Connectors (Top/Rear Mounting)
The lid can accommodate installed XLR cable connectors, with mounting designed for top/rear placement. This is a key point for system reliability: it limits direct connections on the back of devices, standardizes inputs/outputs, speeds up stage changes, and better protects the connectors.
Transport: Locking Wheels, Handles, and Locking Mechanisms
The Mighty GigRig comes with a set of locking wheels, useful for stabilizing the unit during operation and connections. The indestructible injection-molded side handles facilitate repeated handling on tour or at events, and the rotary locking latches secure closure for transport.
An optional set of wheels is also announced for marching band/school use, adapting rolling behavior to different environments (gyms, courtyards, frequent trips).

Questions frequently asked
What rack depth does the SKB 1SKB19 - R1208 offer?
The design provides a 12U+ depth, suitable for deep mixing consoles and cabling installed at the rear.
How many rack units can be mounted in this GigRig?
The front rails accommodate 8U. Optional 8U rear rails allow up to 16 rack units mounted at the back depending on the setup.
Can the lid be used as a support for the console?
The removable lid converts into an elevation base to place the control desk at a suitable working height. Removing it allows configuring a lower DJ station. Installed XLR connectors can be mounted on it or at the rear.
Is this SKB rack suitable for a mobile setup with pre-cabled equipment?
The 12U+ space facilitates the integration of a console, harnesses, and fixed connectors. Inputs and outputs can be standardized via XLR connectors mounted on the lid.
What transport solutions are available for the Mighty GigRig?
Locking casters are provided to stabilize the rack during use. Injection-molded side handles and rotary latches ensure handling and secure closure during transport.
