What SSL Vocalstrip (with Harrison Vocal Flow) Is For
This pack is designed to transform a raw vocal take into a finished voice, ready to fit into a modern mix. It covers typical vocal production needs in both home studio and professional environments: stabilizing dynamics, cleaning sibilance and plosives, shaping the tone, then adding depth and width with effects. It suits lead vocals, backing vocals, spoken word, podcasts, as well as very upfront rap or pop vocals.
The "all-in-one" approach limits back-and-forth between multiple plug-ins: you keep a clear chain, easy to recall from session to session, and save time during revisions.
Main Features
SSL Native Vocalstrip 2: a focused and musical vocal channel strip
Vocalstrip 2 combines four voice-dedicated modules to quickly go from a dry signal to a polished sound. The heart of the chain is the Compander, a compressor/expander hybrid, useful for controlling level variations, tightening a performance, and giving a sense of proximity without crushing naturalness. The built-in equalizer aims for an effective and fast result, with a curve designed for vocals to clarify articulation, clean muddy areas, and add air.
The De-Esser and De-Ploser modules work intelligently, with behavior based on dynamics and a lookahead function to detect artifacts precisely. You can choose between split and broadband modes to adapt processing to the voice, microphone, or take (fine and aggressive sibilance, heavy plosives, etc.), while preserving the overall color.
Free module order and real-time metering
Instead of imposing a fixed chain, Vocalstrip 2 allows you to reorder the signal path: placing the EQ before dynamics to shape the compressor's reaction, or after to finalize the tone, becomes an immediate creative choice. Each module benefits from real-time visual feedback (including FFT overlay and full-band EQ display) to adjust faster, even in a busy mix. The A/B function facilitates comparing two settings without losing your inspiration, and presets inspired by engineers speed up starting with a "radio-ready" sound.
Harrison Vocal Flow: intelligent shaping to a "produced" sound
Harrison Vocal Flow perfectly complements the SSL approach with a seven-module vocal suite, production-oriented. Its highlight is the Vocal Character EQ, an equalizer that follows the pitch of the incoming signal and adjusts the EQ curve position accordingly. This logic allows working on body and clarity note by note, to thicken lows without weighing down, or open highs without making the voice harsh.
Harrison's De-Esser module effectively attenuates sibilant frequencies, while the Leveler acts like a compressor designed to reduce dynamic range while preserving timbre and tonality. For classic shaping, the 32C Channel EQ offers four bands and high-pass and low-pass filters, ideal for carving space for vocals among guitars, keyboards, and percussion.
Integrated effects to place the voice in space
To finish a production, Vocal Flow includes effects directly suited for vocals: a Chorus to widen and give an immersive feel, a Delay designed for slapback (and simple echoes to dial in), as well as a Reverb to add ambiance and depth. The whole set allows going from an intimate, dry voice to a wide, modern vocal without multiplying instances or complicating routing.

Questions frequently asked
Which plug-in formats are supported on Mac and Windows?
On Mac, the bundle is available in AU, VST2, VST3, and AAX Native formats. On 64-bit Windows, VST2, VST3, and AAX Native formats are supported.
Does the bundle work on an Apple Silicon Mac?
Native M1 compatibility and a universal binary are announced. macOS Sierra 10.12 or later is required, with 8 GB of RAM recommended.
How can sibilance and plosives be reduced on a vocal?
Vocalstrip 2 combines a De-Esser and a De-Ploser with lookahead functionality. Split and broadband modes allow adjustment tailored to sibilance or plosives, while Harrison Vocal Flow adds a simplified De-Esser.
Which vocal effects are included in the SSL Vocalstrip And Vocal Flow Bundle?
Harrison Vocal Flow includes Chorus, a slapback-oriented Delay, and Reverb. These three effects allow control over width, echoes, and depth from the same vocal suite.
Is it possible to change the processing order in Vocalstrip 2?
It is possible to reorder the four modules, including the Compander and the 3-band EQ. Real-time display with overlaid FFT and full-range EQ graph accompanies the adjustments. The A/B function is used to compare two settings.
