What SoundID Reference for Apollo X Is For

SoundID Reference for Apollo X is a calibration module designed to make your monitoring reliable by correcting coloration related to the room, speakers, placement, and headphones. The goal is simple: to let you hear a more neutral and predictable sound so you can make better decisions regarding tonal balance, dynamics, stereo image, and depth. By integrating directly with Universal Audio Apollo X Gen 1 and Gen 2 interfaces via the monitoring environment, it is suitable for mixing and mastering as well as editing, sound design, and immersive production sessions.
This type of correction is especially useful when switching between multiple listening environments (studio, mobile control room, home studio) or when you need to deliver consistent mixes across a wide variety of systems (earphones, car stereos, smart speakers, home theater systems). Thanks to minimal latency, you retain a natural feel during work, including tracking and sessions where responsiveness is critical.

Main Features

Hardware Calibration on Apollo X: Speakers and Headphones

Calibration works directly on the Apollo X hardware: you benefit from correction applied at the monitoring level without burdening your production session. You can calibrate both control speakers and headphones to maintain a stable reference from one project to another. The integration ensures a clean and consistent workflow, with correction available as soon as you open your listening setup.

Stereo, Subwoofer, and Multichannel up to 9.1.6

SoundID Reference for Apollo X covers popular stereo and surround speaker configurations, from stereo up to 9.1.6. For stereo setups including a subwoofer, calibrated bass management helps better control the low-frequency area, often the most difficult to stabilize in a room. In immersive production, this consistency becomes a major asset for placing elements, controlling energy in the low spectrum, and maintaining a stable soundstage.

Multiple Calibrated Outputs Simultaneously

The module can manage multiple calibrated outputs at the same time: one speaker profile and up to two headphone profiles (depending on the Apollo X model used). This facilitates quick switching between listening modes (monitors, closed-back headphones, open-back headphones) without losing your reference or changing your session settings. Ideal for comparing a mix in realistic conditions and speeding up balance validation.

Listening Targets and "Translation Check"

To adapt your monitoring to your working context, several target modes are available: "Flat" for a neutral reference, "Dolby Atmos Music curve" for immersive needs, "User Custom Target" for a personalized target, as well as various device emulation targets via "Translation Check." This approach helps anticipate the final rendering on consumer systems while maintaining a reliable base for critical decisions (vocals, low-mids, brightness, width, etc.).

Integrated Performance and Studio Workflow

Thanks to integrated near-zero latency performance, you enjoy precise monitoring without any sense of delay. This responsiveness is valuable during recording, editing, and mixing, especially when working on transients (drums, percussion), fast bass (808s, bass), or multichannel spatialization effects. The result: more consistent mixes, faster to finalize, and a more "accurate" listening experience regardless of the room.
