Historical Context and Positioning Within the Range

Backed by the expertise of the German manufacturer MEINL, the "Sonic Energy" line brings together instruments dedicated to musicality and well-being. Handmade, these handpans combine precision, reliability, and refined finishes for a professional result.

Who This Instrument Is For

This handpan is suitable for beginners as well as experienced musicians seeking an inspiring and accessible instrument. Its D scale encourages melodic expression in ambient, world, intuitive music styles, as well as for relaxation sessions, yoga, and music therapy. Its ergonomics and sensitive response promote nuanced playing, either by hand or with light strikes.

Features and Innovations

The stainless steel chosen for its corrosion resistance and tuning stability allows for a generous sustain and stable harmonics. The double vent optimizes listening on the player's side while projecting sound toward the audience. The 22" (55.88 cm) size offers an ideal balance between comfort, projection, and harmonic richness. The included protective case, velvet pouch, and gloves ensure safe transport and maintenance.

Sound Characteristics

Played by hand, the attack remains soft, immediately followed by a clear and singing timbre. The partials stack coherently, providing a balanced harmonic image and beautiful depth. The note hold is long, favoring pads and ostinatos that fill the space without harshness.

The D tuning highlights meditative and expressive colors. Slow passages gain breadth thanks to the prolonged sustain, while more rhythmic patterns benefit from precise articulation and controlled projection, supported by the two opposing sound holes.
