What Oxford SuprEsser (Native) Is For

Oxford SuprEsser (Native) is a de-essing and dynamic EQ plugin designed to reduce aggressive frequencies that interfere with the mix without altering the timbre. It excels on vocals (sibilance, overly prominent "s" and "ch" sounds), but is equally effective for softening an overly biting electric guitar, taming resonances on acoustic takes, or controlling excessive brightness on transient-rich sources. Thanks to its "see and hear before you act" approach, it helps quickly correct problematic areas, from post-production to music mixing, on projects ranging from demos to professional productions.

Main Features

Linear Phase Dynamic EQ: precision and transparency

At the heart of the SuprEsser is a Linear Phase Dynamic EQ processing. This approach allows for finely controlled reduction of aggressive frequencies while maintaining a natural feel, particularly appreciated on lead vocals, backing vocals, and instruments where clarity must remain intact. The result is an effective reduction of harsh areas with a clean, stable, and controlled output.

Control of harshness across the entire spectrum (20 Hz to 20 kHz)

Unlike a classic de-esser often focused on a narrow band, Oxford SuprEsser operates across the entire audio spectrum, from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. This enables treatment of sibilance in the high frequencies as well as harshness lower in the midrange, or other problematic frequencies depending on the source and microphone used. This versatility makes it a relevant tool for both mixing and more "surgical" corrections in post-production.

Simple and Advanced Modes: fast or ultra-detailed

The plugin offers a Simple mode for straightforward use: ideal for cleaning a vocal track in moments during a busy session. For more delicate cases, the Advanced mode unlocks additional settings to refine dynamic behavior and precisely tailor the reduction to variations in performance, diction, and arrangement.

Auto Level Tracking and Wet/Dry: a workflow that follows the performance

The Auto Level Tracking feature follows the energy of the incoming signal and applies a consistent relative reduction as the level changes. This is especially useful for vocals whose intensity varies between softer verses and more powerful choruses: the de-essing remains steady without the need for constant automation. The Wet/Dry control facilitates parallel processing: you instantly adjust the amount of correction to preserve the attack, presence, and natural dynamics of the source.
