Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
With the AQX series, SONOR offers an "all-in-one" approach designed to start off on the right foot: a coherent set, easy to set up, and robust enough to withstand hours of practice. The positioning is clear: to provide the essentials of the SONOR experience (playing comfort, reliable hardware, responsive shell feel) in an accessible format, without multiplying unnecessary options for beginners. The "Stage" version emphasizes a widely used standard configuration, perfect for covering a broad repertoire.
Who This Drum Set Is For
The SONOR AQX Stage is primarily aimed at beginner and intermediate drummers who want a complete acoustic drum kit for practicing at home, in music schools, or rehearsal spaces. Its 22-inch bass drum provides a familiar and reassuring foundation, while the toms (10 and 12 inches) and 16-inch floor tom allow playing classic patterns and exploring modern placements.
Regarding styles, the configuration is comfortable in rock, pop, punk, variety, and funk: it easily delivers a round and deep sound for grooves, as well as a sharp attack for more energetic rhythms. It is also an excellent base for learning tuning, dynamics (ghost notes, rimshots), and cymbal control.
