Essential Information About the Spira Bass B400 MBK

  • Active HH soapbar configuration: two custom Spira Villian ceramic pickups for a powerful, precise signal tailored for the mix.

  • Roasted woods: roasted poplar body and roasted maple neck/fretboard for better stability and a sharper attack.

  • Modern comfort: Modern D neck profile, 24 Jumbo frets, and a 14" / 355.6 mm radius for fast playability.

  • Sleek and effective look: satin finish and black hardware (MBK) for a modern aesthetic, stage-ready.

A "modern" oriented B400 in the Spira universe

The Spira Bass B400 MBK embodies a clearly contemporary philosophy: fast playing feel, active electronics with a comfortable output level, and choice of roasted woods for consistency. With its HH soapbar setup and deliberately streamlined equipment, it aims for efficiency: a direct, clear instrument designed to handle rehearsals, recordings, and gigs without distraction.

Who is the Spira Bass B400 MBK for?

Thanks to its modern ergonomics (Modern D profile, 24 frets, relatively flat radius), this bass is well suited for intermediate bassists looking to progress on a stable and responsive platform, but it remains welcoming to a motivated beginner seeking a "serious" bass from the start. Style-wise, its personality naturally leans towards anything requiring a solid low end and clear highs: rock, metal, modern pop, pick-driven funk, and studio contexts where a sharp attack and controlled low end are desired.

Sound: punch, definition, and headroom thanks to active pickups

The roasted poplar body provides an effective balance: present but controlled lows, with mids that remain usable to sit well in the mix without bloating. Roasting often contributes to a drier, more immediate response, useful for precise playing and pick attacks.

The Canadian roasted maple neck combined with a roasted maple fretboard enhances clarity and projection of attacks: crisper notes, well-defined harmonics, and comfortable reading on fast passages. The 14" / 355.6 mm radius favors low action and smooth execution along the entire length, while the Jumbo frets increase the feeling of ease under the fingers (vibratos, bends, ghost note articulation).

On the electronics side, the B400 MBK relies on two custom Spira Villian soapbars with ceramic magnets and an active circuit. The expected result: higher output level, firmer attack, and definition that holds up well when pushing distortion or stacking effects. The HH configuration covers ranges from dense, modern lows (neck pickup) to a more incisive, tight response (bridge pickup), with a generally very versatile middle position. The 1 Volume and 1 Tone controls keep it simple: quickly shaping the high end to switch from a bright, snappy sound to a rounder, mellower foundation.

Recommended compatible accessories

To complement the Spira Bass B400 MBK without compatibility issues, consider a clip-on tuner (usable on any headstock) as well as a universal stand suitable for electric basses. Both accessories improve daily comfort, whether in rehearsal or at home.
