The Essentials to Know About the Squier FSR Classic Vibe Bass VI, Parchment Pickguard, Candy Apple Red

  • An Authentic Bass VI: tuned one octave below a guitar, ideal for exploring hybrid registers between guitar and bass.

  • Three Fender Designed Alnico Single-Coil Pickups: precise attack, vintage tone, and a wide palette of combinations thanks to dedicated switches.

  • Modern "Player-Friendly" Comfort: "C" profile neck, 9.5" / 241 mm fretboard radius, and Narrow Tall frets for quick playability.

  • Sixties Look and Feel: tinted gloss neck finish, nickel hardware, parchment pickguard, and matching Candy Apple Red headstock.

A Revisited Studio "Secret Weapon": The Bass VI Legacy in the Classic Vibe Spirit

The Classic Vibe Bass VI pays tribute to an instrument that has become iconic among producers and curious musicians: the original Bass VI, produced from 1961 to 1975. Designed to blur boundaries, it naturally fits within the Classic Vibe range as a "vintage-inspired" alternative to traditional bass and guitar, featuring a carefully crafted 60's aesthetic (period-inspired headstock markings, nickel hardware, tinted neck finish) and modernized playability for contemporary use.

Who Is This Bass VI For? Guitarists, Bassists... and Above All, Explorers

This Squier Bass VI is aimed equally at guitarists who want to go lower without changing their familiar setup, and bassists attracted to a more melodic, "string-to-string" approach with vibrato and single-coil tones. It suits intermediate to advanced players (and motivated beginners) well thanks to its comfortable neck and familiar ergonomics. In practice, it excels in pop, indie, surf, alternative rock, post-rock, film music, and modern productions where articulated low lines, unison doubles, tighter doom riffs, or vibrato-rich layers are sought.

Sound Character: Alnico Single-Coils, Ultra-Creative Switching, and "Strangle" to Sculpt the Low End

With its SSS configuration (three Fender Designed Alnico single-coil pickups), this Bass VI offers a harmonic-rich spectrum: clear lows, a sharp attack, and detailed highs, perfect for maintaining definition even in very low registers. The three On/Off switches (one per pickup) allow you to build your tone like on a mixing console: neck pickup for fullness, bridge for precision, and all possible combinations to find the ideal balance in a mix.

The "strangle" circuit (2-position bass-cut switch) is the secret weapon to instantly adjust the instrument's presence: by cutting part of the low end, you get a tighter, more "percussive" sound that cuts better in dense arrangements, very useful for pick patterns, low arpeggios, or guitar doubling. Finally, the vintage floating vibrato and 6-saddle bridge add expressive textures (wide vibratos, shimmer, ambience) while maintaining a distinctly retro feel.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To maintain the original tension and balance, favor a set of Fender Nickel Plated Steel strings in .024-.084 gauges (gauges indicated on the spec sheet), ideal for restoring the intended feel and response on this Bass VI.
