A Tribute to the 1970s "Big Headstock" Stratocasters

With this Classic Vibe '70s Stratocaster HT HSS, Squier revisits a landmark period in Fender history: the Stratocasters with large headstocks, instantly recognizable. The retro spirit is embraced down to the headstock markings, nickel hardware, and vintage neck tint, while offering a modern and effective formula thanks to the HT fixed bridge and an HSS configuration designed to cover a wide sonic range.

For Which Guitarists and Styles?

This Stratocaster is ideal for motivated beginners to intermediate guitarists seeking a versatile, stable electric guitar that's easy to set up daily. The bridge humbucker delivers the attack and output level needed for rock, pop-punk, or saturated tones, while the two single coils retain the bite and precision expected in funk, pop, blues, and cleaner styles. The fixed bridge is also a real advantage if you prioritize tuning accuracy and stability on stage or during rehearsals.

The Sound

The HSS configuration offers a very usable palette: the Alnico humbucker at the bridge delivers dense mids, more punch, and better sustain when overdriven, ideal for incisive riffs and leads. The Alnico single coils in the middle and neck positions bring brightness, attack, and the typical Strat definition, particularly effective in enriched chords and sharp rhythms. The 5-position selector switch allows instant switching from fat tones to more scooped and crystalline sounds, and the two tone controls (Tone 1 for neck/middle, Tone 2 for bridge) facilitate fine-tuning according to your amp and effects. Finally, the fixed string-through-body bridge promotes direct response, good resonance, and a very appreciated sense of stability.
