Essential Information About the Squier FSR Classic Vibe '60s Jazzmaster Guitar, Parchment Pickguard, Candy Apple Red

  • True sixties Jazzmaster spirit: iconic silhouette, vintage vibrato, and "matching headstock" look in Candy Apple Red.

  • Two Fender Designed Alnico single-coil pickups for a clear, snappy sound rich in harmonics, perfect for effects and open chords.

  • Modern comfort: "C" profile neck, 9.5" / 241 mm radius fingerboard, and narrow tall frets for smooth playing (chords and bends).

  • Complete Jazzmaster electronics: Lead and Rhythm circuits with dedicated controls to instantly switch from bright to warmer tones.

An FSR Classic Vibe Edition: Squier's Tribute to the 60s Jazzmaster DNA

This Squier Classic Vibe '60s Jazzmaster follows the Classic Vibe series philosophy: capturing the aesthetics and feel of vintage Fender guitars while remaining accessible and designed for everyday playing. The FSR (Fender Special Run) designation highlights a particularly striking configuration, here emphasized by the Candy Apple Red finish, the 3-ply parchment pickguard, and nickel hardware for an authentic look. It also features 60s-style visual details, such as the vintage tinted finish on the back of the neck and era-inspired headstock markings.

Who This Jazzmaster Is For: Indie, Surf, Alternative, Pop... and More

With its player-friendly ergonomics, this Jazzmaster is especially suited for serious beginners to intermediate guitarists seeking a first guitar with character, as well as more experienced musicians looking for an inspiring instrument for clean tones, textures, and effects pedals. Its Fender scale length of 25.5" / 648 mm provides tension and precision, useful for standard tunings and tight rhythms. Style-wise, it excels in indie/alternative, surf, pop, post-rock, shoegaze, and any approach seeking dynamics, airiness, and clear chord definition.

Sound and Character: The Dynamics of Single-Coils and the Versatility of Two Circuits

The core of the sound comes from the pair of Fender Designed Alnico single-coil pickups. In the neck position, you get generally rounder, fuller tones, perfect for pads, arpeggios, and atmospheres. In the bridge position, the attack becomes more snappy and precise to cut through a mix, while combining both pickups offers an ideal balance for rhythms and stereo effect textures.

The Jazzmaster electronics stand out with their two sonic worlds. The Lead circuit (slider switch down) offers direct control with master volume and tone, convenient for switching from bright clean to softer sounds. The Rhythm circuit (slider switch up) engages the neck pickup only and adds two dedicated knobs (volume and tone) to quickly shape a warmer sound, ideal for softer, jazzy, or "lo-fi" passages.

In terms of feel, the vintage floating vibrato allows expressive effects (vibrato, subtle dives, shimmer) while remaining musical, and the floating bridge with barrel saddles helps maintain good string stability under normal use. The "C" profile neck, 9.5" / 241 mm fingerboard radius, and narrow tall frets offer a modern compromise: comfortable chords, easier bends, and better intonation across the entire range.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To fully enjoy this Jazzmaster, consider a nickel electric string set in gauge .009-.042 (matching the original setup), a 6.35 mm instrument jack cable, a strap, and a tuner. A selection of picks (from flexible to medium) is also an excellent complement to explore the wide dynamics of the single-coils.
