Requirements According to License Type
This Crossgrade version is intended for users who already own an eligible software from a competing brand. A proof of ownership (purchase receipt, user account, serial number, or license) may be required when requesting the crossgrade, registering the product, or activating it. Please ensure you have the necessary documentation before installation to avoid any service interruptions.
What SpectraLayers 13 Is Used For
SpectraLayers 13 is a spectral editing and unmixing software designed to isolate, repair, and reshape audio at the finest level. Whereas traditional editing works on the waveform, SpectraLayers operates in the time-frequency spectrum to precisely target mouth noises, resonances, breaths, intrusive ambiances, or sound elements buried in a mix.
It is primarily aimed at post-production environments (dialogues, Foley, TV, film), restoration (archives, imperfect takes), as well as sound design when extracting, cleaning, or transforming sound material with a level of control unattainable with standard editing tools.
Main Features
Next-generation Unmixing: Extract Without Altering
This edition marks a new milestone for separation work. The unmixing modules evolve with more precise processing, capable of separating difficult sources while preserving background texture. The Unmix Sound Effects module isolates short sounds (impacts, clicks, transient elements) from continuous ambiance (wind, crowd, traffic, nature), placing them on their own layer for immediate shaping.
For spoken content, SpectraLayers 13 includes dedicated tools: Unmix Two Voices to automatically separate two voices, Voice DeCrosstalk to reduce non-targeted voices, and Voice DeClick to reduce mouth noises and diction artifacts. The goal: clearer, more intelligible dialogues and reduced editing time.
Restoration and Reconstruction: Repair Audio "From Within"
When a take has gaps, holes, or degraded areas, the new tools aim to repair at the spectral level. Ambience Heal can automatically fill spectral voids, while Reconstruct resynthesizes selected spectral data to restore substance to damaged zones. The Attenuate module helps reduce overly dominant content within a selection, useful for taming sibilance, resonance, or intrusive components.
Noise reduction also advances with an improved DeNoise (noise reduction based on noise fingerprint) and a more precise Unmix Components to gain transparency and limit side effects on timbre.
Workflow: Smarter Selections, Faster Editing
SpectraLayers 13 brings a series of very practical improvements to speed up daily editing. Pasting becomes more contextual with Paste Into Selection (repeat or replace an event at the exact spot) and Paste Insert (easily insert a duration equal to the selection). Selections gain finesse: simultaneous resizing in time and frequency via corners, new fade-shaping controls directly on active selections, and options to quickly disable fades or selection events in history.
For productivity, the interface offers layout presets (recall display states according to the task), clearer "Module Information" help, module search by name and keywords, as well as over 100 new shortcut commands. Metering improves with new displays (peaks, RMS, loudness) and Level Check to quickly calculate and visualize various level data.
Studio Compatibility and Batch Production
In post-production environments, improvements also target integration: the Pro Tools AudioSuite Bridge evolves, supporting "round trip" and processing multiple audio clips at once. The Batch Process Open Projects allows applying sophisticated treatments in series, and support for more than 128 channels facilitates integration of audio devices with extended mappings. Finally, transcription export includes options adapted to certain frame rates (e.g., 23.976) to meet video constraints.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Crossgrade license available with any audio software?
This Crossgrade license is reserved for holders of an eligible software from a competing brand. Proof of ownership, such as a purchase receipt, serial number, or license, may be requested during activation or registration.
Does SpectraLayers Pro 12 Crossgrade work on Windows 11 and macOS Sequoia?
The announced compatibility covers Windows 11 64-bit starting from version 21H2, as well as macOS Sequoia. macOS Monterey, Ventura, Sonoma, and Tahoe are also supported.
Is it possible to separate two voices recorded on the same track?
The Unmix Two Voices module automatically separates two voices. Voice DeCrosstalk then attenuates non-targeted voices, while Voice DeClick reduces mouth noises. These processes address dialogue cleanup needs in post-production.
What are the graphics requirements for AI features?
A DirectX 11 compatible graphics card is required on Windows, with DirectX 12 recommended for AI processing. A compatible OpenGL 3.3 adapter and a display of at least 1920 x 1080 are also required.
Does the software integrate with Cubase, Nuendo, and Pro Tools?
ARA 2 integration is mentioned with Nuendo, Cubase, and other digital audio workstations. The Pro Tools AudioSuite Bridge plug-in supports round trip and simultaneous processing of multiple audio clips.
