A 7-string in the Petrucci spirit: precision, comfort, and efficiency
Inspired by John Petrucci's demanding approach, the JP157FM focuses on ergonomics and responsiveness: a Super-Strat double cutaway body for easy access to the upper frets, a roasted maple fingerboard with a fast feel, and a modern tremolo designed for contemporary techniques. This is a performance-oriented guitar, with luthiery and electronics choices that prioritize attack, definition, and consistency.
Who is it for, and what styles?
This 7-string electric guitar is primarily aimed at intermediate to expert guitarists seeking a comfortable playing machine for modern metal, prog, djent, technical rock, and all tight rhythm parts in low tunings. The very flat radius favors controlled bends, fast runs, and complex patterns, while the boost facilitates lead passages without changing amps or pedals.
The sound
The nyatoh body provides a solid foundation with present lows and good density, ideal for maintaining a strong base on a 7-string. The roasted maple neck and fingerboard enhance the immediate response feel, with a sharp attack and clear articulation in the upper spectrum. The 2 humbucker pickups configuration (neck and bridge) offers an output level suited for modern distortion while remaining usable clean thanks to the 3-position selector. The 12 dB volume boost acts as a dynamic accelerator: perfect for thickening a lead, pushing a solo forward, or densifying a riff without losing the character of your main setting. The modern tremolo completes the setup for vibratos, controlled dives, and expressive effects.
Recommended compatible accessories
To maintain the original feel, you can stick with the factory-installed gauge: Ernie Ball 2621 Regular Slinky 7-String. The guitar comes with a padded gig bag for everyday transport.
