This 5-string bass is especially aimed at intermediate to advanced bassists seeking a firm and usable low B string without sacrificing definition. It excels in funk (snappy slap), rock, and pop (attack and foundation), as well as in metal and gospel thanks to its headroom and 3-band EQ. Its roasted maple neck and Medium Jumbo frets facilitate dynamic playing, from pick to fingerstyle.

The Sound

The combination of Alnico humbucker pickup and 3-band active preamp is at the heart of the RAY35: you get a sound that is both massive and articulate, with a wide range of adjustment to shape the lows, mids, and highs. The 3-position selector switch further expands the palette by offering distinct voicings, useful for switching from biting attack to a softer, broader texture. On the luthiery side, the nyatoh body provides a warm and balanced foundation, while the roasted maple neck and fingerboard promote quick response, ideal for ghost notes, percussive riffs, and lines that need to remain clear even on the 5th string.
